Many homeowners think of metal/steel only as a roofing material, but metal is gaining popularity as an exterior siding material for many reasons. With the recent advances in technology, metal siding now has a ton of aesthetic options such as a board and batten farmhouse style, wood grain or colored contemporary plank options, or the typical barn style ribbed style panels. Steel is extremely durable, doesn’t hold water, is more cost effective than composite or James Hardie siding, and can come in a variety of styles, colors, and thicknesses. Aluminum siding is now becoming obsolete, and steel is taking over. Steel is by far a much superior option, and it is recommended to go with at least a 26-gauge steel for a stronger, more durable product. Gauges of steel thinner than 26-gauge can show more imperfections. After metal siding is installed, it requires virtually no maintenance and therefore is a phenomenal product for return on investment (ROI) reasons.
